50Cycles, a UK distributor of Kalkhoff electric bicycles, played out a little cloak and dagger recently after receiving a call from a person requesting a charger for a Kalkhoff Agattu e-bike.
As luck would have it, they maintain records of every bike’s serial number that goes out the door, and the customer had recently reported the same model being stolen. 50Cycles’ customer service said they’d deliver the charger themselves to “ensure it was the right model and fit.”
When they checked the SN on the bike, it was a match, and they gave the perp a choice: Answer to the police, or return the bike right then and there. The original owner now has his bike back, but that’s not even the best part. Check out the full story on BikeBiz to see what happened next…
