Roof top tents are great, but they also have their drawbacks. Wanting to take some of the hassle out of set up and tear down, iKamper just unveiled their newest roof top tent (RTT). Called the X-Cover, the name hints at the design – which exes out the cover that most soft shell RTTs need to keep them dry.

Without an additional external cover to take on and off, the tent goes up and comes down quite a bit faster. iKamper claims that you can be ready to camp in as little as 2-3 minutes, which if true would be a pretty great development for the RTT in general.

Unfolding into a King size mattress, the tent is supposed to sleep up to four people (two adults with two children) or three adults. iKamper points out that the tent is still in the development stage, but it should have features like a skyview window which serves as both a skylight and a viewing panel to gaze at the stars.

Maybe most interesting to our audience, is that the tent includes two built in cross bars. That way you can install most roof top racks to carry bikes, kayaks, additional gear, etc. Without a cover to get in the way, you simply need to get the gear off the roof before setting up the tent.

The X-Cover isn’t available just yet – iKamper is hoping to release it later this year, or maybe early in 2019. But if you want to get on the waiting list to pre-order, there is a sign up sheet on their site.
