PRESS RELEASE: Versus, the television network that is the U.S. home to the Tour de France, and MapMyRide.com, have joined forces to present the Grand Tours Challenges, a groundbreaking venture aimed at getting more cyclists involved in the world’s greatest cycling races!

Each of these Grand Tours Challenges offer participants the chance to win thousands of dollars in fantastic prizes.

For each of these Challenges, VERSUS and MapMyRide.com have set up pioneering technology-enabled competitions that actually allow cyclists to not only watch the races, but also “virtually” participate in them. By presenting these competitions, we hope to get more cyclists out on the road to compete virtually against actual race competitors and other cyclists around the world.

Our Grand Tours Challenges opened with our Giro d’Italia Challenge. In connection with the 100th edition of the Giro d’Italia, we presented 3 unique virtual Competitions—a Team Distance Competition, a King of the Mountains Competition, and Cycling Pros VERSUS Average Joes Competition. And, our Giro Challenge came to a Grand Fine over the last three days of the race when we showcased our La Sprinta a Roma Competitions. By entering these competitions and related sweepstakes, participants were given the chance to take home thousands of dollars worth of fantastic prizes from partners like Polar, Profile Designs, Twin Six, Hincapie, and Road ID.

Grand Tours always deliver some breathtaking bicycle racing, spectacular European scenery, and perhaps even some inspiration for all of us to get out on our bikes more often—all of these are good things.
