“What the heck?” We have a feeling that the recent e-bike announcement from Santa Cruz left some folks wondering exactly that. For a brand that seemed to be anti-e-bike for many years, that’s probably a worthwhile question, though the answer isn’t that surprising. E-bikes have arrived in a big way. Love ’em or hate ’em, they’re not likely to go away any time soon.

So Santa Cruz did what anyone in their position would do – they handed a new Heckler to trials MTB master Danny MacAskill and let him do his thing. While it seems the extra weight took some getting used to, it’s seriously impressive how well Danny can move around on a much heavier bike and ride things most of us could only dream of clearing.

From Danny MacAskill:

I just got my hands on the new @Santa Cruz Bicycles Heckler e-mtb and took it for a wee adventure at home in Scotland.

Still anti e bike. I love Danny and his videos, but can’t watch this one.

I was also anti-ebike, but then I got a full-sus. trail one for my father. Now, sometimes even I borrow it for a ride, cause I found one great thing about it – it’s easy to get on top of hills and mountains with it, and all that’s left is pure fun going downhill. 🙂

Over twice the weight of my lightest MTB and still able to fling it about. That’s some effort
