Looking for lower gearing for your Shimano GRX  1x group? No worries, Wolf Tooth Components is here to help. WTC already expanded on the stock GRX chainring options back in 2019, but now they’ve taken it one step lower.

While the ring shown above is a 44t, it will look similar to their newest Drop-Stop GRX ring which is available for the first time in a 36t. This is not a size that Shimano offers for their 110 BCD Asymmetric 4 bolt GRX cranks, and to our knowledge, it’s one of the first 36t GRX compatible chainrings from any company for that matter.

Using WTC’s Drop-Stop B tooth profile, the chainring is meant for all 9, 10, 11, and some 12 speed chains which makes sense since GRX is only offered in 11 or 10 speed variants. The chainring is therefor not compatible with Shimano 12 speed HG+ chains.

Wolf Tooth Components also offers 38T, 40T, 42T, 44T, and 46T round rings, in addition to 38T, 40T, and 42T elliptical rings for Shimano GRX. The 36t GRX chainring is available now for $79.95.

Hi, can I use your 36t chaining as an inner chainring paired with a 48 outer chainring on my 11sp grx crankset? Or are these only designed for the 1× option?
