What’s better than carbon or titanium? Control Tech thinks the answer is carbon and titanium. Adding to the company’s range of titanium TiMania parts is their new road drop bar which fuses carbon fiber and titanium. The bar’s construction uses a titanium top section, with unidirectional carbon fiber throughout the whole bar including the drops. ControlTech says that titanium is uniquely suited to the clamp section of the bar, but carbon is a better material for the drops, which results in the unique cross section of materials shown here.
Offered in only 40 and 42cm widths, the bar has a 130mm drop with 75mm reach. At 235g don’t expect the bar to come cheap with a price tag of around $478.
The TiMania drop bar joins the rest of the TiMania group including their monocoque ti stem. The stem is completely forged from titanium, and isn’t held together by welds.
Other new products from ControlTech include the EXL road line and the MST mountain bike line which includes their first 35mm flat top mountain bar.
EXL will consist of a 31.8mm carbon bar, aluminum stem, and carbon seatpost, with the bar offering a nice swept back positioning for your hands on the top of the bars.
