Selle San Marco Dima Fit System (1)

Selle San Marco has developed a new five step fit system that helps riders select the perfect saddle. The selector takes age, sensitivity to pressure, body type, saddle to handlebar, and ride style into account in order to make recommendations.

You can access the fit program online or visit your local dealer. Shops who stock Selle San Marco and have a fit studio can set customers up using an iPad app or cardboard slide wheel.

The test program kit for shops has eight saddles, which includes narrow and wide versions of their four most popular performance models: the Aspide, Concur, Mantra, and Regale. There are no female specific saddles available as part of this program currently.

The Aspide and Concur are also available with or without cutouts.

Selle San Marco has also released this creepy sci-fi esque video to help explain the concept in more detail.

I love this brand but I wish companies would quit trying to over complicate saddle selection. Sit bone width, desired padding level, fit it to the bike, rock and roll.

Robo the whole cutout thing is pretty sweet when you get into it. The cutout gives more positions for me at least, so the sit bones rotated forward they are a little narrower than when rolled back. For example the ISM breakaway is amazing for me, get lots of positions, the ISM attack is too wide at the front or the “rivet” for my anatomy. So I like to see more options like this and great brands exploring these sort of options.

Unfortunately, sit bone width doesn’t tell you everything. The lateral cross-section of a saddle impacts fit, too.

You need sit bone with in your riding position.

In the end, some people happen to fit saddles relatively easily, and some people have a really hard time. These services are to help people who have a really hard time finding the right saddle and lets them invest in an expensive saddle that they can not afford to buy and try a dozen of.

Why can’t Italians just make videos that make sense?!? Holy crap. I just wanted to know how it works. 2 mins of my life. Gone.

I have to 2012 version, which only came in 1 width. I’m trying to figure out if this would be more like the new “wide” or “narrow”. I can’t find specs, nor a shop that has these in stock. eh?
