INTERBIKE 2009 - Smith Optics was showing off their new Pivlock V90 and V90 Max at this years Outdoor Demo portion of Interbike 2009. The Pivlock V90 and V90 Max are interchangeable rimless sport style glasses. Both the temples and the nosepiece remove easily and are a hydrophilic megol material. The Pivlock V90 MAX has a larger lens silhouette than the Pivlock V90 (both pictured above).

I wore both the Bronze Mirror and Ignitor (reddish tent) lenses on a sunny clear sky Nevada day. The Ignitor lens is designed to highlight shadows in all types of terrain while increasing color definition. Ideal for mountain biking where you are riding in and out of wooded/ shaded areas. And although it has a higher VLT, Visible Light Transmission, 32% as opposed to the Bronze Mirror 15%, they were amazingly great for full sun conditions. The coverage and wind resistance were also very good.
Other new colors, not yet updated on the Smith Optics website, are the Violet frame w/ Pink Mirror lens, and Ice Blue w/ Platinum for the V90. For the larger V90 Max there will be Cyan frames w/ Red Mirror lenses and Crystal w/ Yellow Mirror available. Also, there is a Pivlock V90 Rx Adaptor for prescription lenses.
The booth girls for Cannondale and Mongoose were caught wearing the new Pivloc V90’s.
