As a custom wheel builder out of Illinois, Rob Curtis offers a number of options for custom built wheels all tailored to the consumer’s specific needs. The latest addition to the line is the expanded cyclocross range which features a unique tubular gluing pattern made specifically for cross. Curtis claims that many CX wheels are still made with a road tubular gluing profile which doesn’t match up with the larger tubies that are run for CX. By 3-D modeling the exact profiles of Clement and Challenge tubulars, the 38W rims of their PSI-Clocross wheels have perfect edge to edge gluing contact with the tire. They even go as far as to claim 25% more contact than with a Zipp 303.
In addition to the already available 38W, the new wheels include the PSI-Clocross Ultimate 38W – limited edition, and the Premium Race 38W.
Hop the barrier for more.
Just what makes the PSI-Clocross Ultimate 38W so ultimate? Well, it starts with a 38W rim that is laced to Alchemy Elf and ORC-UL hubs with 20/24 Sapim CX-Ray Spokes, which make them lighter than 303s at 1247g for the pair.
The original 38W carries on as the Premium Race – 38W, built with a White Industries T11 hubset for durability and performance.
The 38W Race now offers a version with lightweight race only PSIMET branded hubs.
Included with the purchase of the 38W wheels or any PSIMET wheel is a $200 per wheel crash replacement plan, and disc compatible wheels will be available by special request starting at $1,449.
