Jeronimo Cycles, from the Canary Islands has caught our attention before with very unique designs built from Titanium, strange names, and flashy Reynolds 853 bikes. The newest release is the Pandora Ti, a hardtail built around the Pinion P1.18 gearbox, and powered by Gates Center Track belt drive.
With the frame costing an astonishing €2,849, and a Pinion gearbox also reaching close to €2,000, this gorgeous bike won’t come cheap. See the detailed titanium work after the jump…
Jeronimo frames are all made using Grade 9 Titanium, and are all custom-designed for each customer. The integration of both the Pinion gearbox and Gates Center Track requires a lot of special fitments on the frame. The gearbox requires a very large bracket in place of the bottom bracket shell, and since the external drive train is single speed, the dropouts must have some sort of tensioning method. Add in the belt drive, and you also need a split in the frame somewhere. It is said that a lot of the cost of titanium frames is the very complicated welding process requiring Argon purging on both sides of the weld. Take all of those features, and realize all the time that goes into designing, and then welding each one to the frame, and the high cost quickly makes sense.
