Banshee Legend 26 new dh bike 2015 (3)

When it comes to DH racing, times have changed. Many racers are looking for longer and lighter bikes that still have a low center of gravity. Looking to offer just that, Banshee has made some serious updates to their Legend DH frame. Unlike much of the competition however, the changes pertain just to the frame – not the wheel size.

Yes, fans of the 26″ wheel will have a brand new 2015 race sled that still rolls the smaller wheel. Add to that some significant changes in geometry, increased compatibility, and improved suspension, and the Legend is looking like an awesome privateer rig to get you to that top step of the podium…

While Banshee says the bikes have already started shipping, we’re limited to 3D renderings of the bikes for now. One of the biggest giveaways of the new frame is the ODI fork stop compatible tube in the frame up near the head tube. Built in fork stops are always in the right place which makes them a nice improvement.

Not only is the head tube slacker at 63 degrees, but it also runs a new zerostack 44/56 tapered headset which is compatible with the newer dual crown forks with tapered steerers. The head tube is just a small change to the geometry which is overshadowed by the changes in sizes. Gone is the small but the line up still runs three sizes with the introduction of a new XL frame to make taller riders happy. Both the M and the L frames have longer top tubes and also feature lower center of gravities and better stand over.

In addition to geometry changes, the frame includes an all new tubeset and forgings which result in a lighter frame with a more refined appearance. Suspension travel now clocks in at 205mm with increased tire clearance for the 26″ wheels. Available in red-orange/blue, raw/red, and the stealth color option, check with your local Banshee dealer for pricing and availability.

Too bad they got rid of small, the Legend had been on my short list for next season. List just got shorter thanks Banshee 🙁

glad they are sticking with 26″. I won’t ride 27.5.

As 26″ wheels with high volume tires are basically the same outer diameter as a 27.5″ with small volume tires, I’ll ride either because there’s not really a significant difference.
