Borealis Bikes has announced today the release of the new Echo Fork. Designed to match their Echo trail/fat bike, the fork has specific dimensions that match the Rockshox Bluto that the frame was designed around.

Coming in at just 640 grams, and exceeding their strength standards, the fork seems to be the first carbon fork on the market that matches the Rockshox Bluto’s hub width and axle-to-crown length, as we thought would happen soon. This means it will work for a whole lot more bikes than just the Echo, being an easy swap in for bikes that were designed around the Bluto, or already have one installed. Using 150mm spacing and a Rockshox Maxle means there will be no end cap switching, it will plug right in for rigid use on these bikes.

Adam Miller, owner of Borealis told us “Fat bikes are all about versatility, and are used in so many different terrains by riders of all types. My goal is to create products that allow people to ride their fat bikes wherever and however they want. Many riders love their Bluto fork, but many also want a lightweight rigid fork option.”

The Echo Fork is shipping now for $499, and is available with blue or silver graphics. Axle to crown length is 490mm, which is the equivalent of a 100mm travel Bluto at sag, and offset is 51mm.  Jump past the break to see the fork installed on the infamous Fixie Dave’s personal bike….

I’m not 100% sure, but afaik, Canyon’s Dude CF fork has also 150 mm spacing w/ QR15 Maxle. However, not yet available separately, unfortunately.

I’ve had a suspension correct rigid carbon 150x15mm spaced fork for 7 months now. The borealis fork is great but nowhere near being the first.

Nice, but you can get a Bluto for close to the same price if you shop around.

Jeffie-You’re missing the point of a carbon fork if that’s your response. And many of us prefer rigid forks in the snow.

I have a Bluto, but guess what? It’s not going to be on the bike at all this winter. Light is Right, so do not Spite or spew shite. Perhaps go fly a kite? 😉

I get why you wouldn’t run the Blu to fork especially in really cold weather. I do think that all rigid fat bike forks should have mmounting points for some kind of extra cargo one the front forks

Sevo, I fully understand the advantages of having a rigid carbon fork that can easily be used on the same bike & wheelset as the Bluto. It just seems to be a little steep in price compared to the Bluto itself. You are a hell of a slam poet 🙂

What gives, Dixie faves bike is SS…? From what I research that frame doesnt have adjustable dropouts and its a 100mm threaded bottom bracket which means no ebb. Did he just find the “magic gear” or is there something I’m not seeing?

Andy s,

Fixie Dave runs a Philcentric BB. I was talking to their dealer rep about it.

you’re all missing the point. Fat bikes are so last year, we should be focusing on that sweet T-Rex squeaker on the bars! Is the clamp carbon? I wonder if the tone is tunes for fat bikes and cold weather?

Im with efrain. This thing needs mounting points. I was stoked and ready to order until I saw it was missing them. WHYYYYY
Is there another suspension corrected 15×150, 51mm offset, carbon, steel, or aluminum fork available aftermarket with the 3 bolt anything cage mounts? I know the aluminum fork for the Rocky Mountain Blizzard Deore has it all, but its not available aftermarket.
Maybe P-Clamps for this fork is the answer, but I would be worried clamping down on it not knowing if it was safe to do so. Oh well. One will probably come along sooner or later.

@elk

THANK YOU! Didn’t know that was out there. It’s phil so I’ll assume it’s decent but I wonder just how decent. I’ll have to do some research on that.

Where are these available? I do not see any forks on the Borealis website with 150 spacing. They have one with 135 spacing.
