Ever since we laid eyes on the first Moonmen fat bike, the small builder out of Fort Collins, Colorado has had our attention. Started by Todd Heath and Ryan Mckee, Todd cut his teeth in bike building with James Bleakley of Black Sheep for almost ten years. Starting with a fantastic titanium fat bike with BMX inspired styling, Moonmen is slowly building their brand one unique bike at a time.

After chatting with Evan at Idyllic Cycle Works, the latest Moonmen bikes include the company’s first steel build built around 29+ tires and frame components from Idyllic…

Representing the latest fat bike from Moonmen, this titanium monster is Evan’s ideal fat build. Offering huge tire clearance and a dramatic sweeping top tube, #M12 also has one of the first paint jobs we’ve seen on a Moonmen bike.

Both the fat bike and the 29+ below are built with a number of components from fellow Fort Collins company, Idyllic cycleworks. The machined box section chainstay plates allow for a shorter chainstay with plenty of tire clearance for the big wheels while also keeping things stiff.

The finish on #M11 is a bit misleading, but this is apparently the first steel bike to come out of Moonmen. Still featuring a split top tube and their Mension chain tensioner system, the frame can be disassembled to pack in a case as an added bonus.

The BMX inspired handlebars make the build, along with a beautiful fork.

Taking home an honorable mention for the best mountain bike at NAHBS 2015, be on the lookout for some new projects on the way from Moonmen including a possible road bike…
