Women’s specific Liv bikes has just introduced their new Avow Advanced, a carbon triathlon bike designed with adjustability, proper fit, and aerodynamics in mind to suit the female athlete. Developed based on the Giant/Liv 3F mantra: Fit, Form & Function, the Avow Advanced aims to eek out those seconds on the bike for competitive women triathletes, while helping them stay comfortable in their aero position longer for smoother transitions off the bike. Roll past the break for tech details on the new bike and a glance at the three builds that are coming…
The Avow Advanced utilizes the latest aerodynamic and fit technologies to create a performance triathlon bike that is designed for speed and the perfect fit for women. The lightweight bike gets slick aerodynamic shaping throughout tailored to a women’s fit, and uses a frame layout entirely different than the upcoming Trinity Advanced that we previewed at the Tour from brother brand Giant. The frame also gets Liv’s high-level Advanced carbon layup tuned for the female rider sizes and weights, that helps keep bike weight low.
Customizable fit is likely the best way to get aero and stay fresh for the run, so the Avow uses a flexible and easy-to-adjust aero handlebar setup and adjustable seatpost head/saddle combo to dial in the perfect position. Giant’s Trinity carbon bar in a narrow width provides the base on which aero clip-on bars provides adjustable positioning to maximize aerodynamics and minimize overall fatigue.
Beyond the fit of the bike the Avow builds in Tri-functionality with a modular AeroVault System, including a handlebar-mounted aero hydration system for drinking in a tuck, a more traditionally located aero water bottle, and a toptube bento box.
In addition to the bike, Liv have a history of producing deeply integrated graphics, and for next year will put out a full line of apparel coordinated with the new bikes’ colors and graphics.
The bike of course gets internal cable routing to keep air movement smooth and is compatible with both mechanical and electronic drivetrains. An invisible, internal binder-style seat clamp grips the aero post, and gets a smooth fitting cover to move air across it.
The Avow also uses Giant’s SpeedControl linear pull brakes for powerful aerodynamic stopping performance. The brakes get smoothly integrated behind the fork legs and under the bottom bracket, where they get a aero cowling to smooth air coming off the front wheel and downtube and over the spinning rear wheel.
The Avow Advanced will be available in 4 frame sizes. The smallest XXS with a seatube of around 43cm will use a 650c front wheel (and 700c rear) to get the top tube short enough and handlebar low enough, without compromising handling.
Key Tech
• Advanced-grade women’s-specific composite layup
• PowerCore bottom bracket
• AeroSystem Shaping, with aerodynamic tubing and integrated streamlined water and fuel boxes
• AeroVault System offering easy access to integrated hydration and food/tool storage
The Avow will be offered in three build options: the top-tier Di2 Avow Advanced Pro 0 throughout the top of the post, as well a more affordable Advanced Pro 1 model with a mechanical drivetrain, and the Avow Advanced which will share the same frameset but without the integrated AeroVault System.
