Depending on conditions, tires can either make or break the ride. Perhaps nowhere is this more evident than in the rapidly growing world of gravel racing (and riding) and bike packing. With rides ranging from 100 to 3,000 miles in length, these riders will encounter nearly every condition imaginable as well as most surfaces. At the same time, the same riders are looking for tires that won’t slow them down but will also provide the traction needed to keep things upright, not to mention durable enough to survive a trip from border to border.
This tall order is why Teravail is introducing a full line of tires. Yet another brand under the QBP roof, Teravail seeks to create tires specifically for all road, gravel, and off-road riding. With a few of their tires already proven in grueling events like the Dirty Kanza 200 and the Tour Divide, Teravail will keep you rolling on your next adventure…
Starting with the Galena, Teravail’s gravel category consists of three different tires – all of which are tubeless ready. The Galena is the smallest of the three at 700x32c, and features a tread pattern with a closely packed center section for reduced rolling resistance and aggressive side knobs for cornering.

Calling it the official tire of the Dirty Kanza 200, two of the top 20 finishers survived the brutal conditions of the 2015 race on the Cannonball without a single flat. Bumping up the size to 38 mm wide, the Cannonball features a slightly more aggressive tread pattern with the same flat protection which is offered either in the 60tpi tire with flat protection under the tread, or the 120 tpi tire with flat protection bead to bead.

The Sparwood is the heavyweight of the group and straddles both of the gravel and off road categories. This was the tire of choice for Jay Petervary during the 2015 Tour Divide which made it all of the nearly 3,000 miles to the finish on a single set of tires, without a flat. The 700c (29″) x 2.2″ tire will fit in some Gravel frames with maximum tire clearance or in 29er mountain bikes depending on the situation.

The all road option of the group comes in the form of the Licksklillet – a 28 mm or 32 mm tubeless ready tread. Designed with an inverted tread pattern with micro knobs on the shoulders, the Lickskillet looks like a great tire for any of us who find our road bike on dirt as much as we do on pavement.
