If Enduro had a spirit animal, it would be Fabien Barel. The three time Downhill World Champion, (1st as a Jr), winner of multiple World Enduro Series races including the first one ever in Punta Alta in 2013, plus many more, is retiring from racing. Though well known for his results, his energy and personality stand out more than any rainbow jersey he’s worn. His teammates and the Enduro World Series crew pay homage to their friend in this video.
Throw a wheel up in the air and rip past the break to see their tribute to Fab, plus a bonus video of him and fellow goofball EWS competitor Jerome Clementz ripping it up with…. Fab’s grandmother?
Fabian’s contagious energy will be missed from the podium, but rumor has it, he will stay involved, we assume as an adviser to help coach future champs.
From Fab:
Some days are more special than others…
the last official race of my career was pure emotion as much as pure dedication.
I love #racing, I love #riding and I love #sharing it. this will never change.
#dontevergiveup
I’ll see you on the trails…
PS: thanks to everyone for the kinds word and the amazing support.– Fab
Fab and Jey learn a thing or two from “Maminette” in this less than serious edit from Mavic of the two Frenchmen ripping it up.
