Because sometimes we just don’t stand out enough or in the right way, companies like Twin Six, Bontrager and Cadence have come to the rescue. If you’re lucky enough to have the raddest guy or gal in your life, you might consider stylin profilin some of these dapper fashion pieces on your next bike date rather than that smelly team or 90’s day-glow kit…

Bontrager 12551_B_1_Classique_Shoe  Bontrager 12551_B_2_Classique_Shoe

Coming across as a simple looking yet stylish cycling dress-shoe, the Bontrager lace-up Classique shoe brings a lot of tech to this vintage representation. With a 12k weave carbon/fiberglass sole, and a super grabby no-slip heel cup, these kicks will look nice while still performing like your favorite race shoe. Retail is $199.99.

Bontrager 12245_A_1_CLASSIQUE_FF_GLOVE Bontrager 12245_B_1_CLASSIQUE_FF_GLOVE

Reminiscent of something you might imagine wearing while taking a spirited drive on the track in your vintage sports car, the Bontrager Classiqe Glove is as swank as it is high tech. The Pittards WR100X natural leather palm should provide a supple yet durable grip on the bars while the memory foam inserts free up your ulnar nerve to keep your hand awake. To better keep you connected, the pointer finger and thumb tips have eSwipe tech so you can answer the phone when Boo calls without crimping your style. Retail is $74.99.

Twin Six Metal tops

Never to disappoint when it comes to looking good, Twin Six’s METAL collection will surely gain you some attention with these rockin’ duds. The wild design stands out in a simple, more sophisticated way so you look good, but not in a questionable Ed hardy sort of way. You can rock out from head to toe *last “rock” comment I promise* with the socks & cap (both in title pic), women’s and men’s bibs, jerseys in both long & short sleeve, and there is even a jacket, vest and arm-warmers to keep you warm… while being cool (c’mon, this is fun). If you’re all about being pro, they even offer it in a skinsuit for both sexes.

Cadence ESTABLISH CYCLING GLOVE palm Cadence ESTABLISH CYCLING GLOVE

Though these may not have people wondering what you do for a living like those Bontrager hand-covers above, the simple form of Cadence Collection’s gloves look nice as well as subdued. I mean, they’ll match anything! The above Establish Full Finger Glove has a velcro closure, a printed silicon palm for grip, reflective cuff and a “screen-touch” finger and thumb for zooming in when showing selfies to your friends. Retail is $46.

Cadence Minimalist glove palm Cadence Minimalist glove

The Minimalist Glove is just that. Its seamless palm and light-weight breathable poly backing should provide a good amount of comfort for when you just need something simple. Carrying over the screen-touch feature, silicon printed palm and reflective cuff, the Minimalist still makes for a high-tech glove. Retail is $40.

The Tech Cycling Golve has all of the same features including “screen touch” *ha!*,  but adds finger pulls for easy removal. Retail on the Tech glove is $36.

Velcro closures on gloves shouldn’t be on the palm side. Any pair that I have worn with this setup always seem to get caught or snagged on the handlebar.

The velcro is on the back. Click on the pic to see a close-up. All those gloves look cool, wonder if the Bontragers are washable.

I have a couple pairs of the Bontrager Classique gloves (fingerless and full-finger, respectively). They’re made of a nice supple leather, which could probably use some sort of leather-specific cleaner or treatment…but I just throw mine in the wash on a gentle cycle, and that seems to work all right. The “natural” colored version (i.e. tan) does stain and “age” a bit with use, for lack of a better word.

It will be interesting to see how many of these shoes Trek forces dealers to stock. And if yo see all the Trek dealers with these in their stores you know they are just sheep with no backbone.

How does that haterade taste? As a Trek dealer, we’ve NEVER had them force us to stock a single thing. Trek has had our back since day 1. Oh ya, and I have the Classique shoes, gloves, and long sleeve jersey. Getting the bibs shortly. It could easily say ‘Rapha’ on the side instead.

I second that. I managed a Trek concept store for 3 years and Trek never made us stock anything. You could get better deals by doing preseason orders, but that is the same for all of the other major brands.

Saying bike shops are “sheep” for setting up a store that you as a consumer to go in to and see high end product is being as disrespectful as possible to your local bike shop.

@joenomad – I’m pretty much done with velcro, period. Stuff seems to destroy other clothes in the wash unless you’re maniacally careful with it or hand wash it separately. Stretchy “aero” style are all I buy anymore.

I’m not understanding the lace up cycling shoe fad. I always thought that laces for cycling shoes are a bad idea. The last pair of lace up cycling shoes I have used are Diadora road shoes back in 1985 and a pair of Duegi mountain shoes back in 1989, I’m never going back to laces!

Laces on cycling shoes is what happens when you let hipsters dictate fashion over function. Giro is at fault for giving bloggers and marketing types the time of day.

@jeff. So Giro had a little success with them so now you can expect Trek, Specialized ,and Giant to follow.

Dave: Trek has done a high end lace up road shoe for 3 or 4 years now.

I’ve got the Classique shoes and I love them. To me laces make a ton of sense – they’re durable and easy to replace if something breaks, unlike ratchet closure systems, and I haven’t come across a better closure system for distributing pressure evenly across the foot. Even Boa systems tend to have some pressure points. With laces, the fit is totally customizable, which is great if you have oddly shaped feet, etc.

I’d like that Twin Six jersey pattern in a short sleeve jersey.
