Urge is one of the few helmet companies that really targets Enduro directly. While many other companies put out trail riding or DH helmets that cross over to the growing Enduro market, Urge puts a lot of effort into helmets designed for that mix of pedally sections and all out descending. With the new Archi Enduro RR they say that they created the first helmet from the ground up dedicated to Enduro racing.

Urge feels that the combination of gravity speed and precision with tactics and patience to make it through several longer stages makes Enduro the ultimate bike racing discipline. Developed with years of experience and feedback from EWS riders from the Canyon and Rocky-Urge teams, the new helmet is said to step up the combination of safety and comfort.

Urge then worked to specially to develop a unique shell to balance a super safe helmet while being light enough to be worn during long race days. The new shell then blends glass fibers and linen fibers, bound together with a resin that is better able to spread impacts that traditional ABS plastic or carbon shells. It also let them better tune the strength and ability to deform under impacts of the chin guard, while still keeping the helmet open enough to allow excellent ventilation.

All the security of the helmet comes together in a complete package under 1kg, making it one of the lightest full face lids on the market, lighter than many full carbon and more expensive models. At the same time 10 large vents, open cheek pads, and especially the open layout of the chin make for top level ventilation.

While a lot of DH full face helmets use bulk around the rear of the head to link up to neck braces, the Archi Enduro RR goes a bit in the other direction trimming the rear a bit to make room to prevent interference when wearing a backpack. The shell also gets shaped to allow unobstructed view and compatibility with pretty much any goggles. It even gets grip pads on the temples to keep goggle straps in place.

The new Archi Enduro RR comes in 5 sizes from a 53cm XS up to a 62cm XL, with a claimed weight of 990g. Urge has said that it will be available in the 4 colors that we see here: grey/orange, white/red, blue/red & black/yellow. The helmet meets pretty much all the safety norms (EN 1078, CPSC 1203, ASTM F1952, AS/NZS 2063) so it should keep you protected on any continent.

The Archi Enduro RR uses a mix of glass fiber and natural linen fiber (80/20%) to make up its outer shell with 10 main vents. Its inner lining is entirely removable, so that it can be taken out and washed. It gets an adjustable polyethylene visor made to flex out of the way in a crash. The helmet uses Urge’s micrometric buckle, and each one will also include a helmet bag in its 300€/$300 price when it is available May 15th.

I wouldn’t call that light even for a DH full face. Maybe average but still a lot of weight to have on your head all day.

They’ll need to get a new one if they’ve dropped it.

For those looking for a light full face I believe MET makes the lightest and it’s rated for DH too.
