Vagabond: a person who wanders from place to place without a home or job.
I’ve come across more than a few vagabonds over the years that have cast their careers aside and taken leave to seek a life experience in the form of roaming the earth by bicycle. If you’re going to do that, or just spend self-supported night or two away, nothing is more important than planning and being able to adapt to the unexpected. Vagabond came up with new Bikepack/Backpack system that will turn virtually any bike into an adventure ready steed with no hardware involved.
If that wasn’t enough, you have the ability to easily switch things up by taking all of the bike bags with you hands free thanks to their modular attachment system…
Vagabond Bicycle Bags have partnered with a U.S. sewing facility experienced in making soft goods for military and law enforcement. The main pieces of the system are the Ruck rucksack/backpack, Baar handlebar bag, Frem frame bag, and Siit seatpost saddle bag. All but the Ruck attach to the bike with soft straps that adjust to fit virtually every (standard) bike out there. The point? Let you use your current bike to head out of town, racks or no.
The best part is that once you end up somewhere and want to lock your bike up, rather than leave most of your valuables on the bike, everything attaches to the Ruck and goes safely away with you.
The Ruck is a substantial roll-top bag that can be adjusted to fit your needs at the time and even accommodate a hydration bladder. Though a little difficult to see in this pic, there are little “slits” and attachment pieces on the pack.
Using their “Molle Sticks” (daggers?) you can attach some of the smaller items such as the Botl water bottle/accessory bag just about anywhere..
For the larger bags, they have a more secure form of attachment. Once everything is in place, you can walk off with all of your belongings on your back. Check out their video below for how it works…
And here’s their Kickstarter vid, showing off the whole system.
