With a name like Pure Fix, you’d expect nothing but fixed gear bicycles. In the beginning, that was exactly the case for the brand. Their consumer direct sales model focused on colorful, inexpensive fixed gear bikes when fixies were the most popular way to get around town. However, trends change and so can business models.
Slowly, Pure Fix rolled into Pure Cycles and began adding city bikes, cruisers, and even kids’ bikes to the line up along with the full Pure Fix catalog. Now, the company is getting in on the road with an all new, supremely affordable drop bar road bike. Called the Veleta, the bike is available for pre-order and it looks like a decent build for the price…
At this price, the Veleta isn’t going to push any boundaries with frame design. While it’s just a straight tube frame with a straight 1 1/8″ steerer, it is a full chromoly frame and fork which should provide a decent ride. It’s also offered in more sizes than we’re used to seeing for consumer direct bikes with six frames from 49 to 60 cm.
Available in black or blue frames, the Veleta has a retail price of $549, though Pure Cycles is selling them for $499 for the pre-order which has an estimated shipping date of November 3oth. All Pure Cycles have three options for the state of delivery, the free ‘DIY’ option which needs a full build, bike shop pick up for $75 where they build it for you and it’s ready to go, or the $99 fully built delivery where they’re shipped to a mechanic, built up, and delivered right to your door.
