We’ve been seeing lots of press releases from the new Bahraini pro cycling team that Vincenzo Nibali will ride for in 2017, but to be honest we’re not too concerned over which domestiques and sports directors will make the new team function day to day. On the other hand, sometimes buried in the PR is an interesting tidbit. This one takes the form of a new pair of bike travel cases from premium Italian bag maker Scicon. The new pro team will be traveling with new Scicon Aerocomfort Road and Triathlon 3.0 TSA Bike Travel Bags, as well as the updated Race Rain Bags and several others, all in their characteristic red. Jump past the break for a look inside the bags and a hint of what new tech they bring…

From the outside you can already see a big update over the version 2.0 bag, like we had tested. The new Aerocomfort 3.0 keeps the same successful overall shape, integrated wheel protection and strap layouts, but the base of the bags gets a major overhaul. A new reinforced lower section looks to provide a more stable base for wheeling through the airport, and the wheels themselves get an update. Gone are the off-the-shelf swiveling casters, here replaced by some purpose made swiveling wheels. Scicon also looks like they have widened their stance a bit, which should improve stability moving the case around.

Inside the bag looks to get a new base frame, which makes sense as it formed the structure of the current bag and tied directly into the casters. We can only guess for now as to all the exact details inside, but it is clear that the red Antishock Bike Frame inside the bag is a big update as well. The redesigned shape adds another bend below the front axle which should do a better job protecting the fork tips from the outside. We’ve also heard some word that this next big update would bring easy and secure thru-axle compatibility across the ranges.

The team’s red Race Rain Bags are the same as the new version that Scicon introduced to regular riders as part of their consumer customization program this spring (updated from the one we use regularly), although like the team Aerocomfort, these rain bags look to add some nice reflective detailing around the outside as well.

It’s of course also Black Friday, so Scicon’s got some deals running too, with 50% off on their regularyly 600€ team edition Aerocomfort 2.0 bags and much more through Cyber Monday.
