Shortly after announcing the addition of the Rail Tracker tread pattern to their line of plus tires, Vee Tire Co. has more plus size news. This time though, instead of a new tire, it appears to be just a rebranding as the Trax Fatty that we’ve covered in the past looks to be morphing into the T-Fatty. Originally one of their first plus size tread patterns, the Trax Fatty has evolved slightly with the times and the latest design at least looks the same on the outside as the T-Fatty.

No longer listed as a fat bike tire, the T-Fatty will be offered in 26 x 3.0″, 27.5 x 2.8 and 3.0″, and a 29 x 3.0″ size to cover most of the plus bases. Tubeless ready and built with a 72 tpi casing and their MPD rubber compound, tires will be available with wire or folding beads starting at $50.

I (mostly) loved my Trax Fatty 27.5 x 2.8’s. They roll super quick, are reasonably light, and even look pretty cool.

But…their rubber wears REALLY fast, mainly the (already minimal) side knobs. They needed to be replaced way too quickly in the desert Southwest.

If they can come up with a better durometer rubber for the side knobs, they could have a real winner. If.

Same experience but I ended up sharpening up the side knob edges with a tire knife to help extend their grip. It was mildly successful.

What do you expect for $50 ? Not bad for the money Id say, Knobby Nics wear fast and cost $80
