Ceetec is a relatively small Swiss component manufacturer in the cycling industry. But their top shelf designs & premium light weight construction from both machined aluminum & carbon has made their components sought after by some of the world’s best mountain bikers. Pretty much without fail, every time we head to a XC World Cup race, we find some new Ceetec branded kit on the pro’s bikes. This year it was mostly chain guides on the bikes of Sabine Spitz & Brentjens’ American Eagle team bikes, but Ceetec had more in store. Their pro sponsored rider Thomas Litscher has been racing World Cups this season on a new, made in Europe hookless carbon mountain bike rim in their new Revolution wheelset that is now ready to go public…
Ceetec says this newest iteration of their carbon XC rim is 8 months in the development, but they are finally ready to start getting them out to riders looking for that lightweight race advantage, still able to survive more technical trails. Ceetec spent a lot of time in this version refining the layup not to use too strong of carbon fibers so they could get a rim that wasn’t at all brittle. The end product is a Swiss-made rim composed of three different carbon fiber types to balance light, stiff & durable.
The new 29er-only asymmetric rims are being made available as part of complete wheelsets, and come in two different width versions.
MTB Revolution 22
The more cross-country (XCO) race oriented MTB Revolution 22 rim gets a 22.5mm internal width (27.5mm external), with a 23.5mm height. At a claimed 316g (+/-5g) per rim, they build into a 1295g complete wheelset with DT Swiss 240s hubs and 28 Aerolite spokes, available in standard or Boost spacing for 2588CHF (2464€).
