Cameras won’t keep you safe out on the road, but if something does happen – at least you’ll have physical evidence. In a world where law enforcement almost always seems to side with drivers, that can mean the difference between a slap on the wrist or actually holding drivers accountable. Because of that, devices like the Cycliq Fly 6 and Fly 12 have become very popular for road cyclists across the globe.
And now they’re getting even better. Cramming a powerful light, camera, battery, and electronics into a small device is no easy task, but Cycliq is constantly improving. The new Fly CE (Connected Edition) lights have gotten smaller, lighter, but most importantly keep the same HD video capabilities and lumen output.
Both front and rear Flies also gain the ability to connect to your devices via ANT+ which is where the name Connected Edition comes from. That’s in addition to the standard Bluetooth connection that allows them to be connected to the Cycliq app. ANT+ will allow the lights to be controlled through devices like Garmin GPS units.

While the 1080p/60FPS HD video and 600/100 lumen output are probably the most important features, you don’t want to be adding a ton of weight to your bike to get them. Now weighing in at a claimed 195g for the Fly 12 CE and 110g for the Fly 6 CE, together that is a claimed weight savings of 66g over the previous version. Also, the Fly 6 CE gains a new 135° wide angle lens compared to the previous 100°.
Finally, the lights see the addition of a new 1/3 turn quick release mount with new mounting accessories for better fit on a wider range of bikes. Both lights will be available for purchase starting November 30th from the Cycliq site and their current retailers.
