So surely a bunch of mountain bikers have succumbed to the uncontrollable need to make sure Apple executives have plenty of expendable income to buy their family members exotic sports cars for Christmas. Yes, you bought a new iPhone and Quad Lock has the case to keep it save and strapped to your handlebars.

Quad Lock iPhone X case & locking bar mount

The iPhone X is getting huge press, and even with a $1000 staring pricetag it will undoubtably sell well. So if you are a cyclist and looking to take that spend new phone on your bike you need a reliable case & mount.

That is what Quad Lock is offering. For $70 the Quad Lock iPhone X Bike Kit includes the standard base plastic Quad Lock phone case for the new phone, plus the stretch over clear rubber Poncho to protect it from water, and the standard blue Bike Mount Pro post base that you attach to your stem or bars with the included rubber o-rings or zipties.

Some have said that the new iPhone X is great for handsfree mounted use like on the bike, where you can unlock it just by looking at it. Time will tell if that is a good or bad feature.

Quad Lock does say that they’ve tested that Face ID tech out, and it even works when you have the optional rubber Poncho installed to make your setup rainproof (and a helmet.)

The everyday base plastic case still provides reliable drop protection. And Quad Lock has developed the case to also work with the new Qi wireless charging.

ANYONE can unlock your phone by scanning your face with it. Not my favorite feature.

Don’t look at your phone when riding or walking down the street, its stupid, your not that important and you will be run over by some other dumb ass that is looking at their phone while driving.

Quad Lock is awesome for trainer-season… nice to have the option for iPhone X

IRL outside = Garmin

Agreed – I like to have the phone nearby for trainer season (Music, or Zwift Control App, or TrainerRoad App) but I never understood why people would use it for outdoor riding…. its so big and bulky, its an expensive loss if you crash, and it would eat up your battery!

Garmin is so poor for navigation. I use my garmin only for racing. Phone is the best for the other rides. Anytime i want to ride new paths or road i hav ea big, very visible map. I can get working navigation features with maps if i’m on the road. Garmin navigation function can’t compare to map.
Also i use a galaxy S7 so it is ant+ compatible and has huge battery life even with screen on.
For mountian biking i have quality map that are much better than anything garmin compatible for a fraction of the cost.
With quad lock it is safe for riding. On a few big mtb crashes the phone separated from the lock but because the case is good it never had any damages.

Never understood this product. An iPhone is 1000 bucks whereas a cheap Garmin is like $150 used has a massively better battery life, visibility, crash drop resistance. For a trainer I recommend a music stand with an iPad etc. I just slip the phone in my pocket for music.

I train solo most of the time and having my iPhone right there to select music and podcasts is a must for me. Plus using it with strava eliminates the need for a garmin (I don’t use a PM) and it uploads automatically.

Hmmm. Would it look weird having a $1000 phone on an $800 bike?

Depends on how often you use the bike and phone. From what i see people use a lot more their phones than their bike, then here on bikeradar i guess it’s the opposite.
