Limar has been a sponsor of Astana for several years, and last fall outfitted the team with a new full-featured Ultralight Lux road racing helmet. Now the team gets the Air Speed, a new aero helmet for faster days out racing the bike on the road.
Limar Air Speed aero road race helmet
The pro road season has just gotten underway and the team have started racing yesterday at La Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana wearing the new aerodynamically optimized helmet. Developed together with Astana, the team is calling it their new ‘ideal helmet’.
Of course aerodynamics were the original focus of the new helmet’s design, with the team saying it delivers the same drag numbers as their snub-tail Limar Speedking time trial helmet. But at the same time, the much more open design of the new Air Speed offers vastly improved ventilation.
Details remain limited, but the helmet does feature 7 forward facing vents, no openings along the top & limited side openings, and 5 rear facing exhaust vents. The new helmet also includes an updated, simplified version of Limar’s latest lightweight dial retention system.
Pricing hasn’t yet been announced, but we expect it to retail around the same 200-250€ range of their current top road helmets. Availability of the new Air Speed is slated for June 2018.
