If The Range looks a bit familiar, don’t be alarmed. Using the new Presta Cycle TorqRatchet as a starting point, The Range offers Feedback Sports’ take on the mini torque wrench to create a similar yet vastly different tool.

Using the same ratcheting tool base which can withstand up to 60Nm of torque, the biggest differentiator for The Range is how the torque value is displayed. While the TorqRatchet using a somewhat difficult to read hash mark scale, The Range uses a simple rotating wheel which prominently displays the torque value through the window. In practice, this is much easier to use though it does make the tool more expensive to produce.

Sold as a kit with 14 common Hex and Torx bits, Feedback points out that these are premium S2 Steel bits with chamfers on most that help them stay in the tool. The whole kit with protective case sells for $79.99 which is $20 more than the TorqRatchet, but looks to be well worth the price.

That wrench looks amazing. The head is usefully narrow, too – ideal for tight spots, such as the utility mount that goes over two of the bolts on Redshift Sports’ ShockStop stem.

What’s the uncertainty on the Range’s torque?

Hi Robin, thanks for the great question. During 3rd party testing at an accredited test lab, the Range’s average uncertainty was found to be ±0.07 Nm. The tests were conducted at 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10Nm. The re-calibrating feature ensures that the Range stays accurate throughout each use as well as throughout its lifetime.

Excellent re-engineering to make a useful tool significantly more user friendly for just a little more money.
