For 2019 Mondraker has a few tweaks to their Dune enduro bike centered around stretching out its travel to 170mm in both carbon and alloy. On the opposite side of the trail spectrum, an all-new Chrono hardtail is offered in carbon or alloy to deliver the same XCO race performance of the Podium, at a fraction of the price.
2019 Dune Carbon & Alloy Super Enduro bikes
Earlier this spring we got a first look at Mondraker’s revised 2019 Foxy 29 enduro bike, which hid a few suspension and geometry updates that would trickle though the rest of the 2019 line.
New Dune Tech Details
Now, the 2019 Dune Carbon and Dune Alloy bikes get even more super enduro with their frames upgraded to 170mm of rear wheel travel. Lengthening rear travel to match the 170mm fork found on the previous top end Dune gave Mondraker an excuse to overhaul the bike’s suspension design. Like the recent Foxy, the new bikes re-optimize their linkage layout and adopt metric sized, trunnion mount shocks for burlier, more supple suspension on the most technical Enduro tracks.
The new 2019 Dunes stick with 27.5″ wheels, the Forward Geometry that was one of the early instances of the long, low & slack modern trail bike geo we see almost everywhere now, plus the standard flip chip at the rear axle to adjust chainstay length and now a standard +/-1° adjustable headest cup on the carbon models to further dial in your handling. For 2019 Forward Geometry gets one more update – all of Mondraker’s 27.5 & 29″ bikes chop 7mm off of their fork offset for improved grip, control & high speed stability.
Both carbon & alloy frames get MAX sealed bearings, Boost spacing, a tapered headtube, a 73mm BSA threaded bottom bracket,a 1x specific setup with ISCG 05 tabs, and internal cable routing. The carbon frames use a carbon upper link, while the hydroformed 6061 alloy bikes go for a one-piece alloy upper link.
2019 Chrono Carbon & Alloy hardtail XC & trail bikes
Mondraker dedicates their Podium Carbon hardtail for the most serious XC racing, but now they have added a new Chrono hardtail family to bring the price of cross-country racing down.
Still offering a lightweight race-ready platform with the Chrono Carbon frame as light as 1150g, it is a serious XC race value option.
Whether in carbon or alloy, the new Chrono hardtails feature the same race-winning geometry as the Podium…
…so the only difference you’ll see on the race course is a bit of extra weight.
