All you gravel lovers out there now have another choice to get your fix! Picking up where their single speed CX bikes left off in terms of the name, the Breed lineup from Felt is now designed for gravel roads, long bikepacking hauls, and everything between. The group consists of the Breed 20 and 30 each built for versatility in wheel selection and packing methods.
Frame Details
Both versions of the Breed have hydroformed aluminum tubes, T47 – 86 bottom brackets, 12 x 142 rear thru axles, and internal cable routing. Also, it takes a 27.2mm seat post. Flat mount disc brakes are formed into the frame and fork. Speaking of the fork, it features a carbon construction, 1.125 – 1.5″ tapered aluminum steer tube, and a 12 x 100mm thru axle. Both versions are compatible with 650b and 700c wheels.
A closer look at the Breed 20
The top end of the line is Felt’s Breed 20 ($2,650). It comes stock with a 1×11 Sram Force CX1 drivetrain – geared to 40 x 11-42t – and a Praxis Works Zayante crank. Naturally, it has Sram Force hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm rotors front and back. The Breed 20 is setup 650b Devox GRDB3 SL wheels and WTB Byway tires. Its cockpit consists of Devox bars, stem and seat post, and paired with a Prologo Nago X10 saddle.
Breed 30 specs
The Breed 30 ($2,000) comes with a 2×11 Shimano 105 drivetrain – geared to 48/32 x 11-34T – coupled with a Praxis Works Alba crank. Shimano’s hydraulic disc brakes use 160mm front and 140mm rear, rotors. Still rocking the 650b wheels, the Breed 30 has Devox GR2.1 tubeless ready wheels and WTB Byway tires.
