Support Trails before year’s end with People For Bikes  – All of us love to ride bikes, which means we spend a lot of time outdoors. People For Bikes is committed to advocating for more safe & fun places to ride. A big part of that is working to protect & conserve the land of national parks, forests & other public lands. So consider getting involved with your elected representatives or supporting cycling advocacy groups with end of year contributions.

Before 2018 ends, the US Congress will possibly consider a package of important bills that could greatly improve access and funding for public lands. From opening the door for young kids to visit national parks for free, to allocating funding for much-needed land and facility maintenance, these bills underscore the importance of respecting our public lands and ensuring access for future generations. Support these bills by telling your representatives how you feel. Let People For Bikes show you how: PeopleForBikes.org

Where to Ride

  • Race 2 days of blind gravel in Czech Canada with Gravel Blinduro – We were there last year. SRAM was even testing next gen gravel Red eTap 1×12 there! Organized by 4X icon Michal Prokop, it’s two days of blind riding gravel with an enduro staging format. Riders of all skills will enjoy it, all you need is drop bars to head into this forgotten southeast corner of Bohemia on the border with Austria. Called Czech Canada, it packs in a great mix of dirt, tarmac and forest road through a quiet landscape. Race about 65km each day with a party in between. Register now, only until Dec 31 at noon (in Prague) to get a slot for the race next June 22 & 23. CeskaEnduroSerie.cz

Advocacy & Industry News

  • Dangerholm & SCOTT Sweden raising money for My Special Day – OK, so this is super limited just to Sweden right now, but Gustav “Dangerholm” Gullholm who built those world’s lightest Scott mountain bikes we showed last year at the Berlin Bike Show is working with Scott again to fundraise for Min Stora Dag (My Special Day) who helps kids with very difficult illnesses/diagnoses have a day where their wishes come true. Dangerholm built up a custom painted kid’s bike with matching kit that will be raffled off to someone who donates. The reason it is here, is that they hope to go global next year with an even more trick bike. For now it’s a good Swedish cause open for the next two weeks. MinStoraGag.org

  • Pacenti SL23/25 Rim Amnesty: returning customers get a deal – Those rolling on old alloy Pacenti wheels/rims might know that almost two years back now the brand made a shift into carbon offerings and now has some new owners. Kirk sold the company this year to Luke & Matthias, and they want to reward loyal Pacenti customers. So they are offering everyone who bought SL23 & SL25 (V1&2) rims or wheels from 2013-17 a discount to upgrade. Get $75 off any set of current rims, $100 off a Pacenti alloy wheelset, $125 off a Pacenti carbon wheelset, or just 25% off anything else they sell. The offer is good through Jan 31, 2019.
