The SIDI Genius road shoe is a bit of a classic. It has been around for quite some time now, and while it isn’t at the higher end of SIDI’s offering with the likes of the SIDI Shot, it is in fact SIDI’s best selling road cycling shoe. While they aren’t as stiff or as light as the Shots, the collective feeling is that they still offer plenty in terms of performance and are a comfortable fit for those who aren’t so weight obsessed. While SIDI are still offering the Genius 7 model, they’re now offering an upgraded and reinvented version in the form of the Genius 10, at a price point of $299.99.
SIDI Genius 10 Road Cycling Shoe
Dropping the bulky-looking velcro straps and plastic buckles, the Genius 10 features a far more aesthetically pleasing and tunable fitting system with Tecno-3 dials, contouring around the foot for the length of the entire shoe. The Tecno-3 dials allow the rider to precisely tune the position of the fully-replaceable soft instep closure area, a wide and anatomically curved strap combined with a soft, thermo-formed EVA pad that distributes pressure evenly over the instep area. It is adjustable from both sides letting the rider choose whether to center the EVA pad over a high or low instep.
The sole of the Genius 10 is made from nylon but is injected with carbon fiber for added stiffness and power transfer. The upper body of the shoe is a breathable, supple and durable vented technomicro microfiber with cooling mesh panels.
Also replaceable is the heel pad which sits inside a reinforced polyurethane heel cup that stabilizes and supports the heel. Anatomically shaped plastic at the heel region reduces heel slip and provides increased power transfer.
Pricing & Availability
The SIDI Genius 10 is available now at $299.99 in both whole number and half-sizes, ranging from EU size 40-48. Curiously, the size range is dependent on the colorway, of which there are 5 to choose from including, Black/Yellow Fluo, a rather pleasing Black/Red Fluo, all white, all black, and a black/grey option.
