REEB Sqweeb v3 reshaped into an adjustable travel trail bike AND enduro race sled!

REEB Cycles has lifted the veil on their Colorado-built 2020 mountain bike line-up, and standing at the top is an all-new alloy trail bike built around heaps of adjustability. Spearheaded by REEB Cycles’ own in-house fabricator, racer & product tester Adam Prosise, the new 29er Sqweeb v3 is a reshaped version the do-it-all trail bike, now with longer adjustable travel, plus adjustable leverage ratios. On the outside the third generation of the Sqweeb doesn’t look so different than the stock bike Jeff Lenosky jumped on when he joined REEB this past winter (and which got stolen a few months later!) But Lenosky promised to offer insight on how to tweak the platform, benefiting from REEB’s ability to custom build bikes for him lead by head fabricator, Adam Procise. While Lenosky had a hand in the shorter all-around 130mm travel trail mode, this new Sqweeb also sports updated geometry and a bit more travel on the top end, too that Procise put to work winning Enduro races.

Sqweeb v3 new Colorado-built frame tech

The new Sqweeb gets a completely revamped & dramatically shaped 7005 aluminum tubeset, with a ground-up redesigned CNC-machined BB/suspension spine & a new tapered headtube that all come together to create a stronger stiffer trail bike.

As they call it, the new two-piece BB/Suspension Cluster makes up the lower half of the seattube (machined in two halves & welded together). That creates a stiff & precise platform to handle suspension loads and on which the rest of the bike is built, keeping all the moving parts perfectly aligned for smooth suspension action & pivot durability.

The heart of the third generation bike is a new modular lower shock mount that lets users easily configure the bike for either 130mm or 150mm of rear wheel travel without affecting the geometry of the rear end. Just swap in or out either modular shock mount, and the appropriate length shock.

In the Short Travel variant matching 150mm forks to the 130mm rear you get a 65.5° head angle & 76.5° effective seat angle. Go Long Travel and 160mm forks with the 150mm rear yields slightly slacker 65° head & 76° seat angles. Or go full Enduro with a 170mm fork to the 150mm rear for a 64.5° head & 75.5° seat angle. All of those amount to steeper seat angles than before, which come paired with longer frame reach now too.

REEB calls it progressive geometry mated to a playful ride, something they’ve been working on to create “the perfect mix of tunability, trustability, and funability in everything from steep rocky terrain to smooth twisty singletrack, regardless of your ability.”

Still even more tunable than just that, two (or more?) separate mounting points in each modular mount allow for leverage tweaks for example to work best with air or coil shocks. They even say the will consider creating custom tune options with custom machined mounts.

Suffice it to say, there’s a ton of suspension kinematic study that went into this adjustability – to build the best pedaling, best braking & most predictably handling trail bike possible. And if you want to fall down that rabbit hole, REEB does a good job of taking you along for the ride here.

Sqweeb v3 tech details

The Sqweeb v3 comes in four stock frame sizes, and two frame travel options with two different modular lower shock mounts for each. The alloy frame has a 434mm chainstay across all variants, with room for up to 29×2.5″ or 27.5×2.6″ tires depending on your preferred wheelsize. It was designed to fit as long 31.6mm droppers as possible, so you can get up to 150mm in a S, 180mm in an M & up to 210mm in the L or XL.

The Sqweeb is Boost spaced with a Syntace X12 dropout, a 73mm threaded BB & ISCG05 compatibility, trunnion mount shocks, 6/4 ti oversized pivot hardware, easy to maintain Enduro pivot bearings, features external cable routing, and will fit a full size water bottle in all sizes.

REEB sells the Sqweeb in a huge number of different configurations starting with $2200 framesets in either travel setup, in eleven stock frame colors & five more decal options. They’ll even custom powder coat your US-made alloy trail bike for another $250 if you need to ride a one-of-a-kind bike.

Complete bikes start at $4000 with NX Eagle build kits, and climb quickly from there. Then the limit is up to you, right up to an enduro race-ready build of the long travel version called the Enduro Race for $6700 with a 170mm RockShox Lyrik Ultimate fork, 150mm of rear travel with a Cane Creek DBCoil shock and a SRAM X01 Eagle build with i9 Hydra wheels.

REEB says the new Sqweeb “the most versatile American-built aluminum trail bike available.” That sounds like a claim we should get on trying to verify!
