The classic short-travel Cane Creek Thudbuster suspension seatpost gets new life in an updated, longer ST version designed to smooth out the ride on your daily commute, mixed-surface or e-bike rides. With 50% more short travel and new tool-free adjustable elastomers with higher weight limits, the new Thudbuster ST is more adaptable than ever, and a sign of more Thudbusters to come…
2020 Cane Creek Thudbuster ST short-travel suspension seatpost
Designed for those looking to take a little of the edge off on mixed-surface, commuter & e-bikes, the Short-Travel Thudbuster ST now bumps up 50% to 50mm of vertical travel, better smoothing out broken asphalt, cobblestones, potholes & any other rough surfaces encountered. The updated linkage design also now builds in a tool-free system that lets you easily interchange the elastomers to dial in the perfect feel for a wider rider weight range – now supporting up to 330lb/150kg riders.
The new design also features a revised single-bolt head, for significantly easier saddle adjustment around the linkage setup, and can accommodate round or oval rails.
Thudbuster – Tech details
The Thudbuster ST post is built from a forged alloy shaft & arms, which rotate on hard anodized aluminum axles & IGUS bushings.
The new 50mm travel Thudbuster ST is available in 27.2, 30.9 & 31.6mm post diameters in two lengths – 345mm for 27.2 and 375mm for 30.9/31.6mm. The zero offset post has a claimed weight of 580g for the largest 31.6 version.
Thudbuster – Pricing & availability
The new longer short-travel Thudbuster post is available now from Cane Creek for $170, effectively one dollar less than the older, but generally lighter 33mm travel offset ST post. The same updates are expected to come to the LT long-travel version of the Thudbuster later this year.
Cane Creek also says a number of 2020 models of Reise & Müller commuter e-bikes will be the first to spec the updated suspension post.
