Adding their growing list of name brand components, Bontrager has just announced their newest road pedal. While not the first KÉO compatible pedal to bear the Bontrager logo, the new Elite model moves to a composite body to lighten things up.
Featuring a wide stainless steel contact point for support and to protect the composite body, the pedals also include adjustable spring tension with an adjustment screw on the bottom of the pedal. Inside you’ll find a chromoly steel axle with sealed cartridge bearings for durability.
Bontrager makes sure to point out that these pedals are not endorsed or approved by Look Cycle International, and they ship with red Wellgo grip cleats. However, the pedals are KÉO compatible and the included cleats with 6° of float can be swapped out for other KÉO style cleats for different float. Bontrager will offer their own cleats separately that will provide 9° of float if you like to move around on the pedal more before unclipping.
With a claimed weight of 250g per pair (likely the pedals only, not cleats – though not specified), the pedals are fairly light. Priced at $100 per pair, they also seem well priced.
