In the business world, it’s always nice when people want what you have! Since introducing their high single pivot Druid trail bike just over a year ago, Forbidden Bike Co. has been hearing the call: customers want the option to buy them complete. As of today, buyers have two complete Druid models to choose from, and soon frame-only buyers will have an exclusive new ‘Cosmic Eggplant’ color option.
Forbidden Druid frame details:
If you’re not familiar with Forbidden’s Druid, check out our post from the bike’s initial announcement for in-depth details. Here’s a quick overview of the frame’s main points: The Druid is a versatile trail bike built with carbon front and rear triangles. The frame provides 130mm of travel via Forbidden’s Trifecta High Single Pivot suspension linkage, and it is optimized for 140-150mm forks. Druids typically run 29” wheels, but can be converted to a mixed wheel size setup by adding Forbidden’s recently released Ziggy Link.
Unless you’ve been looking very closely you might not be aware the Druid frames have seen a few small revisions since their initial release. Forbidden removed a few pieces of the Druid’s linkage and improved the weather sealing, plus upgraded some of the frame hardware. They’ve also made one change that will affect the bike’s ride, slightly lightening up the compression and rebound tuning on the Fox DPX2 rear shocks.
Check out the chart below for full frame geometry.
Model lineup:
Druid frames include a Fox DPX2 Performance Elite rear shock, a custom built e-Thirteen chain guide, plus a seat clamp and rear axle. The photo below shows a good looking example of a custom build.
While Forbidden’s Druid frames will continue to be sold through dealers, the complete bikes are available through their website. However, buyers can choose the ‘pro setup’ option and have the bike shipped to a local Forbidden dealer. That option does not include assembly, but the bikes ship 90% assembled and include the tools needed to finish the job.
In fact, you get a decent haul of extras with your complete Druid – A ratcheting torque wrench (and all needed bits), compact digital shock pump, set of RaceFace tubeless valves and a spare derailleur hanger come with every bike. The XT models also get a Fox fork fender.
North American customers can purchase a Druid XT as of today, and the bikes will start shipping out in a few weeks. The Druid SLX will be available in mid-September. For pandemic-related reasons, European customers will have to wait until late August for complete Druids. The XT model will be available then, with the SLX model coming in mid-September.
Druid frames will be shipping worldwide in Mr.Brownstone or Blue Steel by mid-June, with the Cosmic Eggplant color coming in mid-July.
