YT says they’ve answered the call to ‘Shred Everything’ with a couple of new coil shock builds for their popular aluminum enduro bike & carbon e-enduro. The new Capra Shred & Decoy Shred take each of those already-capable enduro platforms, and step it up a notch with the linear performance of the newest Fox DHX2 coil damper…
Capra & Decoy Shred get Fox DHX2 coil upgrades
Aiming to “cater to the needs of true shredders and big hitters”, the YT Shred update hopes to give bikepark & aggressive enduro riders more control over their suspension with the all-new 2021 FOX DHX2 coil shock. Bringing a premium coil shock to the aluminum version of the popular Capra seemed like a logical way to create a bulletproof, gravity-hungry enduro bike. And then they figures the carbon Decoy e-bike deserved to join in on the fast descending fun, too.
YT Capra Shred 29″ or 27.5″ alloy coil-shock enduro mountain bike
When YT introduced this Capra two years back, the shapely alloy bike was only available as an entry-level build. Burt now in sizes S-XXL with a 27.5 wheels & 180mm of travel, or sizes M-XXL with 29 wheels & 170mm travel, the Capra Shred builds up into a “full-metal beast” spec’d with a Fox 38 Performance fork to match the new DHX2 Performance coil out back, and a full SRAM GX Eagle groupset with the big range 52T bailout cassette gearing.
The aluminum Capra Shred doesn’t come cheap at 3500€ (you can get a carbon Capra Comp for less), but it is built to tame the mountain, shredding the gnarliest of trails. You get YT’s “full-enduro package” build with their Postman dropper, e*Thirteen cockpit & LG1 EN wheels wrapped in MAXXIS Assegai/Minion DHR II tires.
The new Capra Shred is expected to be available from the second week of August 2020, in either wheelsize.
YT Decoy Shred carbon 29/27.5 mullet coil-shock enduro e-bike
On the e-Enduro front, the carbon mullet Decoy Shred gets the same coil treatment. Mixing a 29″ front wheel with 170mm of travel from the Fox 38 Performance fork and a 27.5″ rear wheel getting matching 170mm of travel out of the Fox DHX2 Performance coil shock, this carbon eMTB powered by a Shimano E8000 motor is meant to be the last word in pedal-assist gravity riding.
The 6000€ Decoy Shred is again near the top of the price list, but at least for this e-bike you get the carbon mainframe/alloy rear, in addition to the Shimano XT 1×12 drivetrain and e*Thirteen cockpit & rolling stock. No more shuttles needed with this trail monster. Available in five sizes (S-XXL), all but the largest of the e-enduro sled will be available from the last week of July 2020.
