BOA dials, which are probably the most well known dial fit system, are about to get even better. Taking everything that has led them to become a partner with countless shoe brands, BOA is now introducing their latest version – the Li2.
Like the BOA IP1 dials, the Li2 offers dual multi-directional tightening and loosening making mid-ride adjustments a cinch.
However, the Li1 is lighter and lower profile than the IP1 which makes it that much less likely to get hung up on a rock, or break off in a crash.
BOA also claims that this is their first ever dial platform to include a composite material overmold which provides additional grip around the perimeter of the dial.
To be offered in three styles, Li2 dials are compatible with their TX4 soft lace and will come in single dial and dual dial fit systems. BOA doesn’t go into detail, but they state that the Li2 was designed specifically “to reuse and reduce material waste.”
At the moment, you can’t buy any shoes with Li2 dials – but they’re coming. Currently, Pro Tour teams are equipped with cycling shoes using the Li2 system, and we’re told there will be multiple product launches this fall for road, gravel, and mountain bike shoes with the new dials from Fizik, Scott, Rapha, Gaerne, Lake, and DMT this fall, and Bontrager, Giro, Louis Garneau, and Specialized later in 2021.
