After years in the making, Mondraker’s newest DH platform is finally here. According to Mondraker, their racers have been on prototypes as far back as August 2019 and they’ve been relying on feedback from the MS Mondraker team including Laurie Greenland, Brook Macdonald, Eleonora Farina, Thibault Laly, and Mike Jones to come up with the fastest Summum yet.

Mondraker Summum side profile

The newest version happens to be crafted from their 6061 Stealth aluminum alloy with hydroformed tubing to give it a slimmer look like the Foxy and Super Foxy enduro machines.

Mondraker Summum handlebar setup

Mondraker Summum zero suspension system

Still running the Mondraker Zero Suspension system, the Summum offers 200mm of rear travel with a more progressive leverage ratio that offers “a greater rising rate action.” Offered in three build levels, the top end Summum RR features the new Fox 40 29 FIT Grip2 Factory Kashima fork and the new Fox DHX2 factory Shock.

Wheel Size

When it comes to wheel sizes, it seems the DH world is still split between 27.5 and 29″ wheels – or a combination of both. Fittingly, the Summum is available in all three configurations if you include the MX ‘Mullet’ version of the Summum RR frameset-only. The top end Summum RR and mid-level Summum R will be available as 29″ complete builds only, while the entry level Summum will be offered in both 27.5″ and 29″ complete builds. As mentioned, the frameset will be offered in the MX 27.5″ rear/29″ front spec, and it will also be offered in straight 27.5″ or 29″ versions.

Frame details include Super Boost 12 x 157mm rear spacing, an 83mm BSA bottom bracket, internal cable routing, and ISCG 05 chainguide mounts.

Geometry

Mondraker Summum geometry 2021

Mondraker has always been at the cutting edge of fit with their Forward Geometry, and the new Summum gets even longer reach numbers. However, the numbers aren’t too crazy by Mondraker, or even industry standards these days, with reach numbers from 430-500mm. Further geometry adjustment is offered through their adjustable headset cups which are either included or available aftermarket depending on the model in +/- 1° or +/-2° cups.
