Aero component maker Vision Tech has several new ways to make your road, time trial & triathlon bikes faster in 2021. Start with three new aero carbon extension setups in the Metron & Speed families, with these having already won a Grand Tour time trial. Add to that a new aerodynamic & ergonomic TriMax carbon drop bar, alloy & carbon TriMax wheels, and a new light carbon Speed all-rounder wheelset, too.
Vision Metron TFE Pro carbon aero bar extensions
Developed together with Visions Jumbo-Visma, Cofidis & EF-Education First pro teams, Vision has created new carefully sculpted aero bar extensions – both in fully integrated Metron & modular Speed families.
Prototypes of the new Metron TFE Pro extensions with molded armrest cups were ridden to Primoz Roglic’s Vuelta a España TT stage win. Vision says they are 8% faster than conventional extensions, saving over 9 seconds in a 40km time trial.
The $420 / 630€ full carbon bars with integrated armrests claim to weigh just 360g (L, without pads) and are available in three lengths (S 265mm, M 285mm & L 305mm). They are designed to bolt up directly to Metron TFA & TriMax Carbon SI013 aerobars, or Specialized’s Shiv aerobar with an adapter.
Vision Speed Carbon aero bar extensions
Sharing a similar J-bend shape with the new integrated Metron setup, these new Vision Speed Carbon extensions offer wind-cheating aerodynamic gains and compatibility with conventional armrests & clip-on aero bar setups.
A similar S-bend is also available in the new full-carbon molded ergonomic extensions. Developed in CFD & wind tunnel tested to conform to proven athlete aero positions, the Vision Speed Carbon extensions weigh just 128g a pair, and sell for $263 / 293€ in either shape.
Vision TriMax Carbon Ergo drop handlebar
This new 304€ TriMax Carbon Ergo Handlebar gets some unique ergonomic shaping that Vision claims will make you faster. The slight ~1mm rise tops angle forward at 10° like the popular Metron 5D integrated bar for a natural wrist position up top, then subtle 2° flare (or 5°?) makes more room for your forearms in the drops, a flat spot in the bend offers a more comfortable position on the hoods, combined with 76mm reach & 125mm drop.
The 31.8 diameter bar is available in 400, 420 & 440mm widths, with cable grooves & Di2-ready routing.
Vision Speed Carbon, TriMax alloy & TriMax Carbon wheels
Vision SC30 wheels are the new lightest and most versatile Speed Carbon race wheels in the Vision lineup. The full-carbon, tubeless-ready rim are offered in rim brake & disc brake wheelsets with 40mm depths, 19mm internal & 24mm external widths. Both rim & disc variants retail for 1102€ built by hand with direct pull spokes, alloy hubs & Shimano or SRAM XDR compatible freehubs.
The new alloy Vision TriMax 25 Disc wheels are meant to be more versatile across rod to cyclocross.
They feature front & rear-specific 17mm internal, 20mm front/24mm deep rear asymmetric alloy rims with inter-spoke machining to save weight. Built up with bladed spokes, the 629€ wheels are centerlock disc only and tubeless-ready.
The new TriMax Carbon (TC) Disc wheels again are meant to blend stable aerodynamics with affordability for disc brake road bikes, with full carbon rims & 19mm internal hooked rim widths. Available in three depths TC 30 Disc for $881 / 997€, TC 40 Disc for $913 / 1018€ & TC 55 Disc for $997 / 1039€, the centerlock disc brake wheels are built by hand with traditional J-bend spokes and are tubeless-ready.
