The Fuji Rakan LT has seen some massive changes over the years since its inception in 2015. Originally launched as a 120mm travel trail bike with a 69° head angle, the 29er full suspension mountain bike has evolved into a slack, long travel, all-mountain shredder. And, it looks alarmingly capable underneath US National Pro Enduro Champion, Amy Morrison.

The first thing you’ll notice about the new Fuji Rakan LT is a rather unusual linkage. Is that a pivot half way down the chainstay? Yes, and it is part of Fuji’s proprietary MLink suspension platform, also seen on the Fuji Auric LT enduro bike.

Let’s take a closer look at that. Aside from the curious positioning of that pivot, the rest of the suspension platform looks like a standard four-bar design. The addition of the mid-chainstay pivot comes with a non-drive side brace that extends between the seat stay and chainstay.

Fuji claim the MLink is one of the most efficient suspension platforms on the market today. They state that it offers small bump sensitivity while handling the bigger bumps on the trail with ease. On the 2021 Fuji Rakan LT it delivers 150mm of rear wheel travel.

That’s paired with a 160mm travel 42mm offset fork up front, sat at a 63.7° head angle. That healthy slackness at the front is married to an equally healthy steep seat tube angle of around 77° (size medium), bringing promise of a powerful, efficient pedaling position.

Reach is fairly generous across the S-XL frame size range, but is particularly generous on the smaller frame sizes starting with 450mm in Small. That measurement stretches up to 510mm on the XL. Seat tubes span lengths of 380mm to 495mm. This 29er all-mountain bike gets short 435.8mm chainstays, consistent across the size range.

Hey, Don’t sleep on Fuji! Still trying to figure out what possible advantage those chainstays offer? Won’t the axle path arc up and forward?

There’s another pivot by the BB. Advantage is TBD but it’s just another way to do a 4-bar. Think of the front of the chainstay as a longish link, the projected pivot moves less than with a short link bike but more than a trad 4-bar where the chainstay is a longer link.
