It may be a while before the new Diamondback Yowie hits the trails, but it looks like it will be worth the wait. We’ve continually been impressed with the value and performance of the DB Level Link bikes, and with the Yowie it seems that will now apply to a short travel XC/Trail bike as well.
Details on the new bike are still quite limited, but we know that the Yowie frame will offer 110mm of rear Level Link suspension and will be offered in both carbon and aluminum versions. The Yowie 5c and 4c will be carbon fiber, while the Yowie 3, 2, and 1 will be aluminum.
Both of those frames are paired with 130mm travel suspension forks. While short travel, the use of RockShox Pike and Fox 34 suspension forks gives you an idea of the bike’s intended purpose – efficient when needed, rowdy when you want it.
The bikes all roll on 29 x 2.4″ Maxxis tires, and feature 1x drivetrains, hydrualic disc brakes, and dropper posts to keep in line with Diamondback’s high performance to dollar ratio.
Shown here as product renderings, the final product may vary slightly. We’re told that these will be available starting late 2021 or early 2022 depending on a number of factors which are affecting all bicycle inventory at the moment. No pricing info is available yet, but with the build on the Yowie 1 which features a RockShox 35 Silver fork, SRAM SX Eagle 1×12 drivetrain, and Level brakes, we’d imagine that the line will start at a very approachable price point.
