Based on their short-travel, short-link trail 29er, Commencal stretches travel out a bit to create a lightweight all-mountain Tempo Power ebike capable of riding every trail. Powered by the light but punchy Bosch SX motor and a slim 400Wh internal battery, the alloy Commencal Tempo Power eMTB claims weight from just 19.9kg so it will ride like a bike.

Blast down techy trails, and then let the Tempo Power help you back to the top to burn lap after lap.

Commencal describes the new T.E.M.P.O. Power as a reimagining of their ‘favorite trail bike‘, now with its own Power and more travel. Created to deliver a more natural, flowy trail riding feel than heavier full-power ebikes, the new Bosch SX-powered Tempo Power prioritizes “easy handling, comfort, capability, and dynamism“.

This is Commencal’s all-mountain all-rounder for mountain bikers looking for a touch of pedal-assist over all types of terrain, without feeling like they are being pulled around the mountain by a heavy eMTB.

What’s new?

Commencal dialed in their virtual pivot VCS (Virtual Contact System) suspension with extra anti-squat and a refined leverage ratio to make the eMTB suspension more sensitive than its analog Tempo sibling, but still with plenty of pedaling efficiency when paired with the SX motor.

Geometry-wise, the Commencal Tempo Power is again a bit slacker than the pedal-only Tempo trail bike, befitting the slightly longer travel – 135mm out back paired to 150mm up front – and the fact that the motor will help you climb. Still, fit on the ebike is pretty much the same as the trail bike, with medium Reach figures, low standover heights & relatively short chainstays across the four sizes available (S-XL).

Then, the glittery white Tempo Power Signature climbs to $7000 / 7800€ with a full Fox 36/Float/Transfer Factory suspension build, wireless electronic SRAM X0 AXS Transmission drivetrain, 4-piston Shimano XT brakes, and alloy DT Swiss HX1700 wheelset with Magic Mary/Tacky Chan tires.

Commencal claims complete eMTB weights as low as 19.9kg in their PR. But their e-commerce site says 20.3kg for a small Tempo Power Signature and then a hundred grams more at 20.4kg for a small Tempo Power Essential.

Still pretty light for an aluminum ebike either way.
