We haven’t even had the proper weather to test the new 45NRTH Ragnarök shoes, and it’s already time for a new Wölvhammer. Winter is coming though, at some point at least. So when it does finally hit in your region, 45NRTH will be ready with their updated winter staples.
The last iteration of the Wölvhammer marked a big improvement in their fit, to the point that they became my favorites for fat biking. But that doesn’t mean they still couldn’t be improved.
Instead of a simple draw cord, the new Wölvhammers have moved to a Boa M3 mid-power reel and lacing system to cinch down the main part of the boot. Up top there is still a wide velcro strap to tighten up around the ankle.
The boot features a full grain leather and ballistic nylon shell on the outside, with a waterproof membrane on the inside. The toe cap is also all leather for increased protection over the roomy toe box. There’s also a d-ring on the toe for use with gaiters.
Underneath, you’ll still find a rubber outsole with Hypergrip lugs which feature anti-slip micro glass inserts. Two bolt SPD compatible, the cleat pocket sits below the aerogel blanket which helps keep your feet isolated from the cold pedals.
200g Primaloft insulation helps keep the rest of your foot warm, and the insole are waffled with a heat reflective cover to further insulate. Since the aerogel is in the midsole, you can use custom insoles without losing out on the benefits.
The boots sell for $325 and are available now.
