For most companies in the industry, a van of some sort is their choice for the company vehicle.  But Bern, and Billy “Souphorse” Sinkford are staying classy with their NAHBS award winning Metrofiets cargo bike.  The bike has been repainted and outfitted with gear to keep it running strong here in the Portland rain.  The build list includes an Alfine 8 speed hub and Gates belt drive, Avid disc brakes, Thompson post and stem, PDW Dios Thronous waterproof saddle and some lights, Chris King headset and hubs, and Hold Fast straps.

Update:  The bike did not win an award at NAHBS, but the bike was piloted By Patrick O’Herron to win the fastest time at the DRT (Disaster Relief Trials).

Cycling often times goes hand in hand with being green.  You know, reduce, reuse, recycle.  It’s nice to see Bern reusing the Metrofiets, and reducing a bit of emissions by riding to events.  If you see the Souphorse pedaling about, stop him and say hi.  I bet he’ll have Bern swag on hand.

Speaking of Bern, stayed tuned for a review of their Alston ventilated helmet later in the year.

More images after the break.

Wait, how is it “recycled”? Do they mean that they decided to actually use it and ride it around after the show was over?

That’s not really recycling, that’s just, um, regular cycling.
