It’s been a while since we’ve heard from 6D helmets, but after four years in the making, their new Alterra Enduro helmet is finally here. Designed to offer complete protection for aggressive mountain biking or e-biking, the helmet is built around 6D’s Omni-Directional Suspension system, which is their own patented way of addressing linear and angular impact forces.
To give the helmet its low 710g weight, an in-molded carbon fiber shin bar and internal roll cage are used to provide structural support. The main helmet shell is polycarbonate, with a multi-impact EPP inner liner and EPS outer liner.
Directional venting and sub-channeling optimize airflow throughout the helmet, and extra large rear directional exhaust vents efficiently dissipate heat, while large over-brow ventilation channels provide a steady flow of air.
The Alterra helmet also includes a Fidlock closure system and a 3-position snap-away adjustable visor. Each helmet includes three cheek pad sizes and two liner and neck roll sizes, allowing riders to dial in their ideal fit. The Alterra is available in three sizes—XS-S (53–56cm), M-L (56–59cm), and XL-XXL (59–62cm)—and comes in six colors for $395.
