We’ve started to see a resurgence of cycling clothing from Adidas in the last year or so, and the folks at 8bar Bikes sent us some images of a photoshoot they just finished in Berlin. One, it’s always nice to see actual cyclists modeling for new clothing and bikes, and two, it’s pretty cool that a big company like Adidas might pick riders from a small bike company and team like 8bar to be their models. The 8bar Team has actually been working closely with Adidas since the beginning of 2015 on their own team clothing, and looks to be carrying that even further with the development and testing of the fall and winter collection like this Belgement line-up. Word on the street is that they will even have some design collaborations in store for 2016. Join us after the break for a closer look, 8bar’s thoughts, and some cold weather clothing tech…

It looks like Berliners Antonia and Stefan of 8bar Bikes have become the new poster children of Adidas Cycling, as they work the urban rider demographic. Head over to Adidas’ new cycling website, and we see a lot of their faces grimacing through rough weather. But Stefan did have good things to say about working together with Adidas and collaborating in many ways. They started out developing a team kit for their international fixed gear criterium team, and ended up test riding the new cycling clothing. And now 8bar has even got involved in the development of new cycling apparel, with more from them in the spring/summer 2016 kits.

The new Belgement Jersey is a top level technical long sleeve race jersey with a compressive aero fit. Its front uses a windproof fabric and gets a DWR coating overall to keep rain out. The polyester fleece jersey gets industry standard 3+1 pockets, plus mesh venting under the arms to prevent heat and moisture build up. It comes in the bright yellow that Stefan is wearing and the white of Antonia, in both men’s and women’s cuts for 150€.

These Belgement bib tights are available for €200 for both men and women for riding in cold and wet weather. The tights’ bib straps are cut high in the back for both sexes, with the women getting a high, zip front for extra weather protection and warmth. They are made of a brushed inside softshell fabric with Thermodream insulation for a warm and cozy feel and maximum wind resistance. While the men’s tights are pad free, for the same price the women’s version adds in a premium Elastic Interface chamois for all-day riding comfort. Both versions are black only, but include reflective detailing on the legs for improved visibility. Both winter jersey and tights are available now direct from Adidas’ web shop.
