In an age when just about anyone can make an award-winning film, organizers of the annual BC Bike Race announced a new contest based on video submissions.
To win the “The Ultimate Singletrack Contest,” which comes with $13,000 worth of prizes, mountain bike hopefuls submit a video of how they’d train for the 2023 BC Bike Race.
What does that mean, exactly? It means that if you win this contest (conducted through online voting), you actually get to compete in the event — and you land a pretty sweet haul. The rest of the prize package includes a Rocky Mountain Instinct C70, Shimano shoes and pedals, and a Lazer Helmet.
But how should you approach your video production?
“Be creative, make us laugh, make us cry, blow our minds if you want to win!” the contest’s press release said.
Contest organizers will publish a shortlist of the best videos to the BC Bike Race’s YouTube channel. There, the video that gets the most likes wins.
Submissions will be accepted until March 15 — meaning you only have a week left to make and submit your video. Voting happens on the YouTube channel from March 16-22, with a winner announced on March 24.
