Earlier in the week we featured the new Tmplhof fixed gear crit bike from 8bar, but hiding in bright Space Blue the Berlin bike company also had a new carbon disc brake Kronprinz road bike, with some surprisingly affordable pre-order deals. Plus, the new Kronprinz and the do-it-all road aluminum Mitte can also get in on some of those team edition dots too…

Kronprinz Carbon Disc Pro road bike

A disc brake version of the Kronprinz v2 Carbon road bike is a relatively new addition to the 8bar catalog. We heard talk of it last year when the carbon rim brake version was officially launched, but this is the first we’ve seen it. Much like the carbon rim brake version, this will be available first for pre-orders, but offers pretty solid value especially if you order before the end of May.

The 12mm thru-axle, flat mount disc bike with race geometry comes in four stock sizes, and clearance designed for 28-30mm road tires. Pre-order before May 31, 2018 and the space blue frameset will cost 1103€ (1300€ there after). Complete bikes can be pre-ordered from 2100€ (2800€ from June) or this Ultegra mechanical build with 45mm deep carbon clinchers sells for just 2624€ (3500€ after the pre-order.) Delivery is anticipated in August 2018.

Mitte or Kronprinz x 8bar Team Edition bikes

If you want one of the new Tmplhof road bikes in the same Team Edition dots paint job you can also pre-order one of those too. But if you plan to venture more off the tarmac, the adaptable all-road aluminum disc brake 8bar Mitte might be a better choice. The Mitte will join the new Tmplhof crit bike & Kronprinz in team editions colors as well, all from the start of May. 8bar hasn’t released pricing for those bikes, but we expect the new Team Edition paint jobs to add a premium of around 150-200€ to the base finish versions.

What’s the difference between this an FM088? Better customer support and no need to pay an import tax?

Re that Tmplhof: what’s that little bracket holding the disc brake mount in the rear? That looks pretty funky – imagine the squeal from that brake.
And is that the new Shimano 105? First I’ve seen it on a bike, and the levers are HUGE.

On closer inspection, can’t tell what that bracket is holding up.
