It makes me sad to think that the poster’s female neighbors and family members are forbidden from riding bicycles and are thus deprived of having a daily ride. Women’s rights are human rights.

Cycling is often seen as something children do or how poor foreign workers get around. Sport and exercise is changing here. I can’t say that there would be a bicycle based suffragist movement here, but men are riding more as is the occasional woman….

^ the USA has backed the Saudi government with full military support since the 50s. Tough for revolutions to occur with big brother watching.

Cycling for Men and women is allowed. Human rights should not be confused with culture. I ride, race and hit the trails all in Riyadh and surrounding area!
