Photo sent in from Mark Russell, who says this “is a picture of the western entrance to the Blue Ridge Tunnel through Afton Mountain taken on Feb. 2 during a night hike in a snow storm. It was taken by Ron Spillers. This tunnel is to be converted to a walk/bike path through the mountain once funds can be appropriated.”  Check out the  link that describes the tunnel, and the Wikipedia page, they both have pictures of what the tunnel looks like during the day and a little history of the tunnel.
